Race Report: Dutch Supercars at Spa

Race report from Spa where we grabbed two P2 results! ????????

We were back in Belgium this weekend for two 60 minute pitstop races with @britcarendurancechampionship (on a combined grid with @supercchallenge). Thunder and lightning Saturday morning meant it was a wet qualifying session, but we did a solid job in tricky conditions and put it P3.

The weather brightened by the start of the race, which meant we went out on brand new slicks. It was pretty clear from the off that it was likely to be a three-way fight for the Britcar win between us and the two McLaren GT4’s; one run by Team BRIT for Bobby Trundley & Aaron Morgan, the other run by FormEvo for Simon Clark. Bobby broke away at the front, but we were following closely in 3rd. After the pitstops, Clark was narrowly ahead of us and the Team BRIT car came out of the pits a lap later and split us. Nathan got a monster run through Eau Rouge but had to go off track to get past, meaning he needed to hand the place back, but he got past TeamBRIT once more a few corners later.

We chased Clark hard for the remainder of the race, but couldn’t get close enough for a lunge thanks to his straight line speed advantage. P2 it was, which was a good result.

Sunday: sunny qualifying this time, but we were on some scabby tyres. Nathan did a good job to put it on the front row alongside the BRIT Macca. In the race, we took the lead and were being chased hard by Hills in the Ginetta, but we knew those McLarens would be coming. Held on as long as we could but eventually got passed by Trundley with about 20 minutes to go. He’s a very quick driver, and we couldn’t live with the McLarens in sector one. Gave it a good go, driving at max pace, but had to settle for another P2.
